Today was the most adventurous day cause we took a 45 minutes cab to Gangnam just to see the Gangnam style statue, starfield library, Coex Mall and Bongeunsa temple.
We encountered traffic jam (The traffic police was stopping some cars for checking) so initially it should be a 30 minutes ride, but it took us almost an hour to reach with the slow traffic. It was very hot in the cab as during winter, the cab drivers don’t on the aircons in the cabs. Dash, Violet and me were squeezing at the back seats and we were so uncomfortable during the ride.
The starfield library is magnificent indeed. It is a futuristic library with floor ceiling bookshelves. We took photos in the library with the super tall bookshelves before shopping around Coex mall. We just shopped at the Hyundai supermarket and level 1 of Coex mall. Coex mall is one of the nicest and biggest underground mall in Seoul but it is too complicated for us. It sells mainly branded stuff so we were not very keen to shop.
After that we walked out of the mall to see the Gangnam style statue which is a symbolic sculpture of Gangnam area. After taking photo with the Gangnam style statue, we walked to Bongeunsa temple. It is a very nice temple constructed in the 10th year of Silla King Weongseong’s reign (794) . There is a 23 m Maitreya Buddha statue which looks so beautiful and grand. It has a history of 1200 years and was the largest temple in Seoul during Joseon Dynasty.
After visiting the temple, hubby called grab and we took a bigger cab back to our hotel area. I told hubby I wanted to try Dak-galbi, as I always watched people eating in Korea Dramas. He found one near our hotel known as Myeongdong Dak-galbi with good review and it was quite good! We enjoyed eating! Calories overload again for that day! After eating, we went to a large Olive Young nearby to get our final facial barang barang before making our way back to hotel.
We went back to hotel early because we needed to wash all the winter coats using the self service coin laundry machines so that we need not do it back in Singapore (since the capacity of the washing machines and dryers are larger in hotel). I simply love the convenience of self service coin laundry machines! We occupied all the 3 machines washing all the coats and clothes.
After washing the coats and clothes, we tried squeezing all the snacks and stuff we bought into our luggages and prepared for our flight back home tomorrow!
