We had hotel buffet breakfast in the morning as we just simply love hotel buffet breakfast. It costs about $20 per person. But the variety of food is not much but nevertheless, we still enjoyed the breakfast.
We walked the most on Day 4 which was a big mistake (as the next day, hubby had a back pain). First, we walked from hotel to see the statues of King Sejong the Great and Admiral Yi Sun-Sin. Admiral Yi Sun-Sin is maybe Korea’s greatest and most famous naval commander, famed from his victories over the Japanese during the late 16th century. King Sejong is 3rd king of Joseon Dynasty, his statue is seen with a smiley face and a book on his hand.
After taking photos of the statue, we wanted to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, but it was closed on a Tuesday, so eventually we made our way to another palace known as Changdeokgung. It is one of the most well-preserved royal palace from the Joseon Dynasty. It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. It is also largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon dynasty, We did not rent Hanbok to wear as the teens were not interested, so we adults just gave up the idea as well. Anyway, we had no patience to do makeup and to dress up. The scenery around the palace is beautiful so I just focused on taking photos of the surrounding of the palace. We could see the places where the king and queen stayed in , as well as the living quarters of the servants. We did not visit the Secret Garden as the guided tour itself took about 70 mins which we thought it was too long (we are lack of patience).
After visiting the palace, we went to Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul which is home to over 900 traditional Korean houses (hanok) dated back to Joseon Dynasty. The houses are beautiful with some shops as well. However, there are too many houses which need a lot of walking and climbing to see, so we just took photos of some and proceeded to our next destination.
Our next destination was the mall opposite our hotel, Lotte Young Plaza. Inside Lotte Young Plaza, there are very cute shops like Pop Mart, Line friends and Kakao friends. There is a music store there as well. We spend some time shopping around there since Violet loves those stuff.
I requested for Korean bbq food, so hubby found this shop nearby our hotel which has quite good reviews. We did not really find the food fantastic, I still prefer the Seorae bbq in Singapore. After that we went to Lotte department store store and 7 eleven to get some snacks and food.
