On the 4th day of Ho Chi Minh, we woke up very early to go to Saigon River opposite our hotel. We had to wake up very early or else we could not cross the road due to the heavy traffic.
After taking some photos at the River, we went to have buffet breakfast in hotel again, before proceeding to the Independence Palace. It was designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu and was the home and workplace of the president of the Republic of Vietnam. It was the site of the Fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975 that ended the Vietnam War, when a North Vietnamese Army tank crashed through its gates.
We saw the working place and residing place of the president, as well as the hiding place, as well as communication place underground. It was an interesting tour.
After visiting the Independence Palace, we went to Diamond Plaza to shop, but only to find that there is nothing much there. Diamond Plaza is a luxurious shopping center. The complex includes a 22-story building and a 15-story building which serves as shopping center, 6 cinema lounges, restaurants, café and hospital. We eventually went to Vincom again to have a drink at Starbucks and to buy more stuff from the supermarket.
