This was the first day the driver drove us around Taichung. He greeted and fetched us from our hotel at about 9am and drove us to 921 Earthquake Museum. The museum was dedicated to the 7.3 earthquake that struck Taiwan on Tuesday 21 Sept 1999.

The museum was located at the former site of Guangfu Junior High School. We saw the ruins that the earthquake had brought to the school structure. The whole building just collapsed. We experienced the tremors of the earthquake at the earthquake experience theatre. Although it was nothing compare to the real earthquake, but we could imagine the damage that an earthquake can caused.

It is an eye opener for the kids as they have never experienced earthquake in Singapore and cannot imagine the damage that it can caused.

After visiting the earthquake museum, the driver drove us to Rainbow Village Taichung. The artwork of the area was created by former soldier, Huang Yung-Fu. The whole area is great for photos taking!

We then proceeded to Sea of Flowers in Xinshe. It is held this year from Nov 9 to December 1 and we had the opportunity to visit the place! The whole place is filled with colorful flowers and the theme for this year is the renowned French novel, “Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince).”. Nice flowers for photos taking again!

We went for lunch at nearby xinshe baigu zhuang. It is a nice mushroom shaped restaurant that sells a lot of mushroom related products.

After lunch, we went to Lavender Cottage in Taichung. It is a beautiful place with lavenders. It offers verdant trails, lavender fields, a restaurant & gift shop. It is very relaxing to walk around the Lavender Cottage as it is quietly tucked on a hill.

Initially, we wanted to visit xinshe castle, but the driver recommended us the Carton King in Taichung instead. We were glad we went there cause there are a lot of famous buildings, cartoon characters, furnishings and decorations made out of cartons. Great experience looking and taking photos!

The driver took us to Yizhong night market before driving us back to hotel. We are not very keen in visiting night markets as we don’t eat street food, especially for me who has weak tummy. I am not keen to buy things along the street too.

At night, we bought food back from Taroko Mall. I bought fried rice, Violet bought Japanese noodles, hubby bought curry rice and Dash bought Curry Omelette rice. I only had photo of the fried rice from Dash’s handphone as I think at that time, my handphone battery was flat.
