I booked a family room at Downtown East resort this time round during the March holidays. It is to celebrate my Dad’s birthday, as well as to have our family’s yearly bbq. Our stay during last year: http://ido.sg/theincredibles/2013/03/2013-3-days-2-nights-downtown-east-chalet-stay/
Our family room consists of two rooms joining together. We stayed at Blk J room 1916 and 1917. There is one living room, and one bedroom. Well, I regretted booking a family room, cause actually most of the time, we spend lying down on the bed watching TV, and not using the living room at all.
Before we checked in, we went to watch a movie “The nut job”. It an action-packed comedy in fictional Oakton that follows the travails of Surly, a mischievous squirrel, and his rat friend Buddy, who plan a nut store heist of outrageous proportions and unwittingly find themselves embroiled in a much more complicated and hilarious adventure. I found the show boring, but Dash found it interesting. Anyway, we seldom bring the kids to watch movie, so it was a good way to start our holiday stay.
After that, we went to take a rest in the room. I brought some sandarts for the kids to do at the chalet, cause I usually do not allow them to do sandart at home due to the messiness. Chalet is a great place to do sandart, since the kids can do it at the bbq pits. While Violet was napping, I brought Dash to take a walk around the resort, and found a “chocolate making activity” going on, so Dash participated in the activity. It just involved the pouring of the chocolate mixture into two mini containers, and decorating them with some sprinkles and nuts. The activities were actually to promote Taiwan tours (well I am not sure how chocolate making is related to Taiwan actually).
In the evening, we went to Ban Heng Seafood restauarant with my parents, sister and two godbrothers. My Dad loves to eat the ala-carte buffet at Ban Heng, so we usually celebrates his birthday by feasting there. We were not able to eat as much as before, maybe due to age catching up…
The next morning, we took a short walk at Pasir Ris Beach, before having our breakfast at KFC. After breakfast, we brought the kids to ExplorerKid to destress and go wild. We used the two free vouchers given together with our chalet stay, so eventually we just paid $3. While Dash and Violet was having fun at Explorerkid, I went to have my eyebrow trimmed, and hair cut before school reopens. Luckily there are such facilities at Downtown East! Dash had his hair cut over there too. After all the fun, we had our lunch at Basil Inn. We ordered pineapple rice, thai rice, vegetable, and omelette for about $30, it was quite cheap. In the afternoon at about 3pm plus, hubby brought Dash and Violet for piano lesson, so I just stayed in the room to rest. At night after they came back, my parents, sister and godbrothers came over to bbq. We had a good feast of bbq food.
At night, we just checked out the room and proceeded home, cause the chalet room was a bit dirty after the bbqing, and also, since we need to check out at 10am the next day, we might as well go back home in the night.
That ended our 3 days 2 nights holiday stay at the chalet.
