After attending 20 lessons of speech and drama lessons organised by Lorna Whiston in school, Dash finally got to perform on stage with his classmates today! According to him, he is the narrator, and he told me he must dress very smart. He requested to be on his tuxedo which I told him “no!!!”. In the end, he made do with a long sleeve white shirt and tie.
Anyway, I was rather disappointed with the whole performance. It lasted about 40 minutes only, and the whole thing was rather messy. The children forgot lines (including Dash!), and one class didn’t know what to do on stage! I think the trainers did not prepare the students well enough. Also, it was really “speech” performance, and not “speech and drama” cause I did not see the children doing any action!
Although Dash forgot his lines, but he was confident, and could speak loudly. I am still rather proud of him.
Next year, most probably, I won’t let him join Speech and Drama anymore. I rather use the time to teach him on my own.
