This week, I was busy attending the holiday program at Zoo Phonics in Siglap. It was a five days program, from 930am – 11am. The theme for the program was “My world of Eric Carle”.

I had a great deal of fun there. Everyday, we started off the day by singing some songs. Then the teacher would pick one Eric Carle’s book to read to us, and she would have a lot of activities related to the story. Through story, music, movement, creative craft etc, we got to learn shapes, mathematics, words, feelings etc. It was fun!

I enjoyed doing art and craft, and eating snacks! Everyday, the teachers would prepare things for us to eat, and the interesting thing was the food would always be related to the story that was told that day!

Take a look at the pictures and you will understand much better.

Everyday, Mummy got to take a cab to bring me to and from the centre. Mummy told me, she paid $1oo plus for the program, but in actual fact, inclusive of cab fees for the 5 days, it should be $200 plus! Anyway, we were always there early, so I got the chance to play some puzzles.

Day 1: Eric Carle book “SECRET BIRTHDAY MESSAGE”
We had the chance to use starfruits to make star shapes, and carrots to make circle shapes on our papers using paints. We even went around to find “candles” to put on the “cake”. We also had the chance to design a cake by spreading it with chocolate jam, and to put chocolate and rainbow sprinkles on top. After we finished decorating the cake, we got to eat it! yummy!

Day 2: Eric Carle book “Papa, please get the moon for me”
We had the chance to paint on the big majong paper pasted on the wall (look at the big “sky” behind me in the picture), as well as to paste stars all over it. We even climbed up a ladder to touch the “moon” that was hanging on the ceiling! I loved it.

For snack, we got to create our own bread that looked like a night sky!

We were also introduced to a nursery rhyme related to the moon “hey diddle diddle” and we made the following craft work. Note that the cow can be moved, and it would be like the “cow is jumping over the moon”.

After the program, Mummy bought a lot of Eric Carle books for me using the vouchers given by her teacher (Thank you so much!) whom we visited on Tuesday. 🙂 Mummy felt that Eric Carle books are really interesting and good for children.
